Placement into College Courses

PLACEMENT INTO COLLEGE CLASSES AND COURSE PLACEMENT
CGCC requires students to take a placement assessment called EdReady. This assessment can be taken in reading, writing, and/or math. The results determine which classes a student may take and then the concurrent process can begin.
Students will also have the ability to have their High School transcript reviewed to determine if they are ready to take a college level class. Ideally, this evaluation takes place when students are considering a Math or English course. CGCC does have prerequisites for certain classes. Please make sure to look at their course catalog to see if you are eligible to enroll in their course.
Students are not expected to take college classes their first semester at CEC. If the first semester is successfully completed, then the student may be ready for college coursework. However, because students start their college careers here at CGCC, efforts are taken to make sure students are appropriately placed and supported throughout their course experience.
